My decorating tastes have changed over the years - from “cutesy” Country - to a more Traditional Country - to Primitive. I have loved Primitive antiques for many years, but cost and availability in our area have made decorating our home with Prim decor a slow process. Thanks to makeovers, reproductions and my husband’s willingness to make things for me the transition is becoming a reality.
What does this have to do with the pewter plates?
Well, I have been wanting to change the display on our entertainment cabinet (made several years ago by my DH) to a more Prim look and the pewter plates just seemed to make the display come together.
Here is a before photo – not a very good picture, but you get the idea.
I’ve asked my DH to make doors for the TV area – we’ll see if that becomes a reality.
The new look.

What do you think? Is it looking more Prim? I will continue to change things out as I am able to find more Prim goodies, but for now I am happy with the look.
I hope y’all are having a restful Sunday afternoon,
Sue

That looks great. I love the changes and look forward to seeing it change again over time.
Hi Sue,
I know what you mean, I have been through many phases of country-cottagey decorating. Now Im getting more into prim. I don't think I will be totally prim but it is so cozy and homey! (like my made up words). I like the pewter a lot especially mixed in with some color! Love the cabinet!
XoXo
oh I like the "after" photo..you can really see a change...great job..;)
have a wonderful week.;)
I really love the after look! Is it the same color cabinet? Maybe it just looks different if you used a flash.
Robyn, it is the same color - just taken with two different cameras. The before photo is an old one I just happened to have, because I forgot to take one before I did the display redo.
The outside of the cabinet is a barn red and the inside is a natural stain. If DH gets around to making doors, what color should they be?
H, Sue,
It all looks beautiful!
I love how you displayed everything!
have a great day!

Hey Sue!
I think this looks great....very prim!
Lucky you to have found all those pewter plates. If DH does make you doors, I would do them the red color.
Can't wait to see how that will look. I love being able to hide the not so prim things! LOL
You have been having great luck finding things lately! Good for your.
Have a great day!
